Taiji at the Grange

This is one of a series of classes with a capacity of 12 students. Students sign up for the full fall series, with drop-ins when capacity allows. Pre-registration required by emailing Felipe at champlainwellness@gmail.com

Taiji Quan or Taiji (Tai chi) is an Internal Martial Art system which emphasizes the development and control of Qi (chi) within the body. The Chen Style of Taiji or Taiji of the Chen Family originated in the village of Chen Jia Gou in Henan Province, Northern China, the ancestral home of the Chen Family. Chen Taiji is the original root source of a variety of different styles known around the world today.

Objectives of this Introductory Class: This class lays the foundation of the practice of Taiji, focused on the teachings of relaxation of the body, the importance of posture alignment and awareness of our center of gravity, and how to move without obstruction with a calm and focused mind.

Who this class is for: This class is oriented to beginners and can also be enjoyed by anyone who has practiced Taiji before.

What we will cover: Fang song gong (relaxation exercises); Zhang Zhuang gong (upright meditation), Pu Fa (walking techniques); Chan si gong (reeling silk exercises), Hexie (13 movement form).

Instructor Bio: Felipe Toro is a Taiji practitioner with over 10 years of practice with the Chen Bing Taiji Academy (in Chile) under the instruction of Master Alberto Catalan, disciple of Master Chen Bing (representative of the XX generation of the of the Chen Family and Director of Chen Bing Taiji Academy). Felipe is also a Licensed Acupuncturist with over 15 years of clinical practice dedicated to the study of chinese medicine, settled in Charlotte VT since 2020.

Days: Mondays and Wednesday from 6pm to 7:30pm

Beginning on: September 8th 2025 Ending on: November 5th 2025

Donations: Suggested donation for the program $90 (18 classes) or $5.00 for each class.
