All poetry lovers and those interested in poetry are invited to “Poetry at the Grange!”  Our Thursday, August 13 program will be held back at the Grange, 2858 Spear St. in East Charlotte, from 6:30-8 PM. Local husband and wife poets, Angela Patten and Daniel Lusk will be our featured speakers.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Angela Patten’s publications include five poetry collections, most recently “Feeding the Wild Rabbit “(Kelsay 2024), and a memoir, “High Tea at a Low Table: Stories from an Irish Childhood” (Wind Ridge 2013). She maintains citizenship in Ireland and the U.S. and lives in Burlington, Vermont.

Daniel Lusk is author of eight poetry collections and other books, among them “Lake Studies: Meditations on Lake Champlain” and “KIN, poems from the edge of wilderness in Vermont”. Well-known for his teaching, his work also is published widely in literary journals. His essay, “Bomb” (New Letters), was awarded a 2016 Pushcart Prize.

After Angela and Daniel present some of their work, audience members will be invited to share their own poetry or favorite poetry by others.  Those who memorize their poems will be awarded prizes.

Poetry at the Grange! is held every second Thursday from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Grange, (hours will shift to afternoons for winter), and is held in collaboration with the Charlotte Public Library. This is just one of many events run by the Charlotte Grange, based at 2858 Spear St. 

Reminders: Kindly stay home if you feel sick or are contagious, and please mask up if you have been exposed to someone with a contagious respiratory condition.  Overflow parking can be found at the white Catholic Church just south of the Grange Hall.  Please do not park at the private residence to the NORTH.
