Poets, poetry lovers, and everyone interested in poetry are invited to gather at the historic Charlotte Grange Hall! Bring a few of your favorite poems or your own poetry to read or recite, or just come to listen.
Each month, a local guest poet is invited to share about themselves and recite several poems. Participants are then invited to recite their own poetry or read poetry of their choosing. Prizes will be offered to those who can recite their poems from memory!
Our featured poet for the August poetry gathering is Jorden Blucher, of Charlotte. Jorden is the author of the blog: Quietly Making Noise; Rummaging Around for the Nuances of Life. https://quietlymakingnoise.net/ Jorden began writing poetry at the age of seventeen as a release of feelings surrounding fathering a child and then the death of a close friend. After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design, Jorden worked in a variety of jobs before settling into a career as a stay-at-home Dad. Jorden is forthcoming about his journey with depression and its role in his artistic journey, and hopes his frankness will help others who struggle know they are not alone.
Everyone is welcome! This monthly gathering is held in collaboration with our great friends at the Charlotte Library! We will gather every second Thursday from 1-2:30 pm during winter and spring; and 6:30-8 pm during the summer and fall months of June, August, September and October. Check this Grange Events Calendar to re-confirm dates.
