Charlotte Walks: Raven Ridge

Join us for a SATURDAY BONUS HIKE this month!

In addition to our regular hike on the third friday of the month, we’ll be gathering on Saturday for a wonderful hike that we expect to take about 2.5 hours to complete.

The Raven Ridge Natural Area is on the border of Charlotte and Monkton and has been preserved through efforts of several conservation groups and individuals due to its exceptional wildlife habitat and location within a wildlife corridor.

The trail begins with an accessible 0.3 mile board walk trail which leads through a beautiful cattail marsh to a peaceful beaver pond. The ascent up to the ridge rewards hikers with magnificent views of Lake Champlain and the Champlain Valley. The area offers views of cliffs, vernal pools, interesting geological outcrops, historic artifacts, and even a cave for the very adventurous. The entire loop is 2.6 miles long with some elevation gain.

We will meet on Saturday 9/26 at 8:30 at the parking area located at 1279 Rotax Road. Parking is extremely limited so please carpool if you can. You can park along the road a bit but be cautious and respect parking signage. If you have questions, you can text or call Abby at 802-343-6807.
