The Charlotte Hand-Me-Downs project is a program of the Charlotte Grange. Every spring and fall local families gather clothes their child or teenager has grown out of and drop them at the Grange in East Charlotte. Volunteers then sort the clothes by size and make a bag for each child served by the Charlotte Food Shelf. Any donations not needed by Charlotte families will be donated to community support organizations in neighboring towns.
The Charlotte-Hand-Me-Downs Project is accepting donations of used kids clothing, winter gear, and boots on September 22nd (8:30-10:30am) and September 24th (10am-noon). Drop off at the Grange at 2858 Spear Street in Charlotte.
Items Sought:
Please consider donating outgrown children's winter gear: boots, snow pants, coats, mittens, and hats along with any clothing your child has grown out of. We do serve several children in adult sizes - if you have adult sizes to donate, please email me first (tai.dinnan@gmail.com) to find out if your sizes are needed. We are also accepting donations of large re-usable shopping bags to use in re-distributing the used clothing.
Volunteers Needed:
Help sort clothing during drop-off hours. Are you available to help Thursday September 22 from 9am-11am or Saturday September 24th from 10am-12:30pm? This work will happen inside at the Grange Hall. We ask that volunteers wear masks. If you'd like to volunteer, please be in touch via email - tai.dinnan@gmail.com.
